You’re the person who has carried more than most people will ever understand.

People come to you when everything falls apart because you’re steady, intuitive, and somehow know what to do even when no one else does. You’ve been the one who steps in during chaos, who notices distress before it erupts, who holds space for pain that feels too heavy for others to touch.

And yet…

When things quiet down, you can feel the weight you’ve been holding.

The old hurts that you packed away.

The exhaustion that creeps in when you’re always the helper, the fixer, the strong one.

You’ve spent years showing up for people in crisis. Young people who needed guidance, families who needed direction, communities that needed someone to care enough to stand in the gap. You know what resilience looks like because you’ve lived it. You know what survival feels like because you’ve walked through it yourself. And lately, the support others have poured into you has reignited something, your desire to give back from a place of wholeness, not depletion.

You’re not looking for surface-level change.

You want clarity.

You want relief.

You want to feel grounded again.

And you want someone who understands the complexity of carrying other people’s stories while trying to make sense of your own.

That’s where I come in…

Supported

My Approach to Therapy

My work is built on the belief that healing is possible when you feel safe, supported, and understood. I specialize in helping people who have spent their lives caring for others, those who are often overlooked, overwhelmed, or silently struggling behind their strength.

Therapy with me is active, intentional, and rooted in real transformation. We won’t just talk about what’s going on, we’ll work toward meaningful, sustainable change.

I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker, and I earned both my Bachelor’s degree and Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. I work with individuals facing a wide range of life challenges, and I believe therapy should feel like a supportive, nonjudgmental conversation; one where you can show up as you are and feel truly heard.
Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including alcohol and substance use treatment, residential treatment for adolescents, inpatient psychiatric care, community mental health, and education. These experiences have allowed me to work with people from many backgrounds and at different stages of life. They’ve also shaped my client-centered approach to therapy.

In my work, I often support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and self-esteem challenges. I also help people process past experiences that continue to affect them today. My approach is collaborative and flexible, drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, mindfulness, and strengths-based therapy. Together, we’ll focus on gaining insight into what’s happening beneath the surface and work to build tools that feel practical and useful in your everyday life.

We slow the overwhelm so you can hear yourself again.

Using EMDR and Brainspotting, we access the deeper layers of your nervous system- the places where trauma, stress, and emotional overload get stored. These tools help release patterns that talking alone can’t reach, creating space for calm, clarity, and emotional freedom.

We build skills that make daily life easier.

I teach grounded strategies for managing stress, regulating emotions, and responding rather than reacting. These aren’t abstract theories, they’re practical tools you can use in real moments of overwhelm.

We reconnect you with the parts of yourself that got lost along the way.

People who are always “the strong one” often lose touch with their own needs, wants, and identity. Our work helps you rediscover yourself…not just who you are in crisis, but who you are when you’re allowed to breathe.

We create a path forward that honors your values and your capacity.

Your life is bigger than your pain. Together, we’ll build a future that feels steady, intentional, and aligned with the person you’re becoming.

Hi, I’m April Robinson, LMSW

Why I do this work?

My commitment to supporting others runs deep. I’ve worked with troubled youth, individuals in crisis, and communities facing real hardship. I’ve spent years offering support to people who felt unseen, unheard, or forgotten. And I continue to volunteer and give my time to the spaces that shaped me, because I know the power of having someone show up for you when you need it most.

The care others have poured into me during my own seasons of difficulty has strengthened my belief in healing and community. This work is personal. It’s meaningful. And it’s a privilege to walk with people as they rebuild, recover, and rise.

Outside the office

When I’m not with clients, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, learning to play the guitar, traveling to new places, watching sports (I’m a HUGE VOL and 49er fan), reading, and getting in a good workout at the gym. These activities help me stay balanced, grounded, and present.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d love for you to reach out. We can connect, talk about what you’re looking for, and see if working together feels like the right fit.
